Annavaram Temple Story

Annavaram Temple considered as the famous south Indian temple located in the city of Annavaram. This temple considered as sacred as Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam.

The presiding diety in the temple Sri venkata sathyanarayana swamy and the idol of goddess Sri Anantha Lakshmi established next to it.

The Annavaram Temple surrounded by ‘Pampa River’ that touches the feet of the hill. The devotees believe the pampa river as the Divine Trinity, who blesses the pilgrimages in the name of Hari Hara Hiranya Garbha Thrimurtyatmaka

Architecture and Surroundings of Annavaram Temple

The annavaram temple surrounds by the pampa river and lush green trees which provides an eye feast for all the devotees and visitors, the hilltop of the temple is of 300 feet height, the hilltop of the temple is of 300 feet height.
Sastra of Temple

The temple constructed based on the Shilpa Sastra, and the principal temple in the form of a chariot with four wheels, and the walls of the temple demonstrate various diety and their province. there is a chariot in the temple, represting the seven lokas of the universe

At the temple top there is an idol which resembles that the lord is all over the universe blessing their devotees.

Chariot in Temple

The chariot wheels are representing the sun and moon on which the universe depends on. The factors in the temple demonstrates about the spirituality.

The temple is of two floors and a main entrance. The ground floor has the YANTRAM and the top floor has PEETHAM, the main entrance is all plated with gold.

The four sides of Yantram,  has four deities are namely Ganapathi Deva, Bala Tripurasundari, Satyanarayana Swamy and Maheshwara Swamy that which represent Panchayathanam.

The first floor consists of the idol of Moola Virat Lord Satyanarayana Swamy at the centre, along with the Goddess Sri Anantha Lakshmi Ammavaru on the right and Lord Shiva to the left.

The idols of the Gods and Goddess leaves a splendid view of the devotees as they wrapped in golden Kavacham.

Epic Story of Annavaram Temple

The word ‘Annavaram’  is a club of two words as “Anima” and “Varam” that means Pronounced/ Wanted Boon.

This place called as ‘Annavaram(in Telugu Word Anna means Food and Varam mean blessing)’ as this place is famous for food serving and donations to the benevolent people.

Story of Badrachalam Hill

The lord of hill Meruvu and Menaka blessed with two sons named as Bhadra and Ratnakar.

Bhadra with his great penance pleased lord Vishnu, and he became ‘Badrachalam’ where Lord Sri Rama temple constructed. Ratnakara is a devotee of lord Vishnu and performed strcit penance to get compassionate from the lord, on Ratnakara wish he stayed there as the Ratnagiri hill.

Story of Ratnagiri Hills

The epic story of  Ratnagiri hills is that under the ruling of Sri Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagaram has dug a passage the underground the hill to attack the enemies from two sides at the invasion time of Kalinga Kings.

At the time of Andhra revolution, late Sri Alluri Sitarama Raju had his private quarters under the hill to fight against the British Rulers.

On the Ratnagiri hills, the main temple is Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Varu and the visitors can pay a visit to some other temples as Sri Rama, Vana Durga and kanaka durga

About Grama Devatha Nerellamma:

The village has a Gramadevatha named ‘Nerellamma’, who located at the foot of the hill. The lord appeared in the dream of  Brahmin called Earanki Praksaham and told that he left abandoned on the hilltop without worship.

The brahmin shared dream to other so, that the temple construction started in 1891, initially its in a small shed with some helping hands the temple constructed by the end of 1934.

The temple reconstructed with the available local stones, by the end of 2011-2012 and some of the modifications made to the temple structure to make it more eye-catching for the visitors.

Legends of Vratham

The main legends connecting to this Vratham are Sage Narada who worshipped Lord Vishnu to get relief from distress. The lord suggested the sage for Satyanarayana Vratham to get blessed with prosperity.
