The name only indicates that this temple dedicated to Goddess Padmavathi, who is the wife of Lord Venkateswara Swami. The main idol of this temple is Goddess Padmavathi, also called Goddess Alameumanga. This sanctum appeared in the 16th century. The Pushkarani is a temple tank of Sri Padmavathi goddess and tank, also known as the Golden lotus flower.

In this temple, Goddess Padmavathi gave darshan to Lord Venkateswara on the red lotus plant. Inside of the temple, we can see the Lord’s mom Vakula Devi. History of Sri Padmavathi Devi Temple Tiruchanoor

As per Puranas, a Brahmin Pundarika who dedicated to religion and followed duties as per Shastras, he could not have sons. Later Mahadev was born for that Brahmin. Mahadev married one woman, and he got deviated and went for another woman. After her death, he joined pilgrims on their way to Tirumala. He took the holy water bath also climbed hills.

Swami Pushkarini heard this and sought Lord Varaha Swamy blessings. After Mahadev was born to Akasaraja king of Mitravarmam and Akasaraja, perform Yagam for the children. And then the couple found the child on the lotus flower with thousand petals. The child named as Padmavathi and married Lord Srinivasa.

Another legend said that Bhrigu Maharshi came to meet Lord Vishnu at Vaikuntha. When Maharshi entered, Lord was asleep, so angered Maharshi kicked Lord on his chest. Lord Vishnu, instead of getting angry, he homage to sage. By seeing this, Goddess Lakshmi got mad and went to Bhoolokam and emerged as Padmavathi on the golden lotus.
